Growing up in an artistic family - my grandfather an accomplished painter, my mother a
jeweler - I developed a strong appreciation for art and followed my dream of becoming a
photographer. I started out collecting photographic postcards as a child. This
interest developed into making photographs with a point-and-shoot camera my father gave
me when I was 7.
My love of travel and curiosity about people and the world we live in motivates me to
go far and wide taking pictures. Finding that moment of spontaneity and natural
expression on a subject's face, while taking portraits makes the images I make more
candid and relaxed. The way light & shadow falls on a face, building or landscape is
what I look for while making a photograph. I am often told that my pictures have an
“old world” quality about them.
My passion for photography has always brought me back to my 35mm camera, getting lost
in the moments I find beautiful and compelling. I primarily photograph in natural
light and use color, sepia and black and white film depending on the mood or feeling of
the scene. Through the magic of the photographic medium I would like to transport the
viewer to the moment I experienced when I made each of my images. |
